     It is a district of Himachal Pradesh. Kangra is the biggest district of the state by population. Kangra district is bounded on the South-West  by Una district, on the North-West  side by Punjab state, on the North by Chamba district, On the East by Kullu district and on the South side is Hamirpur District.

     One and only International cricket of the state is located at Dharamshala of Kangra. It is the city and headquarters of Kangra district.

              

 Jwala Ji Temple

            The temple is dedicated to Maa Jwala Ji. There is a pious fire flame incarnated  into the temple, and the temple has  historical importance in Indian culture. 

       

McLeod Ganj

          It is a town of Kangra district and nearer to Dharamshala. It is also known as Little Lhasa, because of its large number of  Tibetan population. Tibetan in-exile  headquarters is also located in McLeod Ganj.  


Bajreshwari Devi Temple

        It is another Hindu's shrine in Kangra district. Bajreshwari Devi temple is 19 km from ISBT Kangra.


Kangra Fort

          Kangra fort is the largest fort in the Himalayas (India). The fort was very difficult to conquer, because of its geographical condition. It is 20 km away from Dharamshala.



Brief History

      Kangra district derived its name from Kangra town which was called Nagarkot in the past. Kangra was originally a part of the ancient Trigarta.

On 1st of November 1966, Kangra was made a part of the state i.e. Himachal Pradesh.

         Kangra is well connected through the National Highways of India, it is 219 km from Chandigarh and 218 km away from the capital (Shimla) of Himachal Pradesh.

    There is a train ply between Kangra and Delhi everyday.

      Gaggal is the Airport of Kangra district. 8 km away from Kangra town.
