NARKANDA

FeeLocation : NARKANDA (SHIMLA)

Narkanda, a beautiful hill station situated near Shimla. This place has its own natural status. High mountains, long trees,  tricky roads all attract the visitors most. Especially in the winter season the tourism of this place is on it's peak. Apart from its natural beauty and peaceful environment the place is also decorated with umpteen religious and historical monuments. Hatu peak, Tannijubbal  are some of those. The beauty of this place can't be explain in words. I want from my reader to visit this place once. But I also want to share my personal experience, that may help you.

I visited the place in the month of early November. It was so cold that time. As we started our journey from Shimla all things were good. The beauty of mountains, fresh air (little bit cold air) madee our journey more intriguing. When the time was passing the wind started to became  more and more colder. After some time I was not able to feel my hands and feet. Due to the cold snow breeze we were shivering. 'Beauty is the most dangerous thing' was the perfect quotation for us that time. Especially when you travel by bike(that is what we did).  So basically my personal stuff was like this and I want to tell you  if you want to travel by bike do a good preparation for that . Because there was so much cold at the time of winter.

Brief History

The history of Narkanda belongs to the Ramayana kaal. According to some old religious books and vedas the place narkanda was established by Mandodari (wife of Rawana). She used to worship Maa Hatu for the prosperity and protection of Rawana. So she used to come to the Hatu peak, the temple of Hatu Maa.  Due to this people believe that Narkanda also came into existence. And developed into a small town.

How to Reach

Narkanda is about 61km from Shimla if we travel by road. It will take 2hrs approximately. If we travel by air it is about 32km from Shimla. The main bus stop of this place is Narkanda bus stop.

Market

Market of Narkanda is copious for all the necessities of  travellers. When you enter the place first you will feel like the place is not much large in area. But the market provides you all your needs. You can enjoy delicious Himachali food  like Siddu with Ghee and Himachali special Thali there. The beauty of Himachali culture is spread in the air of Narkanda. Apart from the market Narkanda has its own range of well furnished hotels and homestays. You can find hotels at affordable prices. But I must say if you are planning to travel in  peak season(winter) you have to do advance booking of hotels. Because rooms are not easily available in hotels in this season.

Places to Travel

As I told you the beautiful landscape and high mountains of Narkanda look like heaven on earth. The beauty of Narkanda is also decorated with other places, like Hatu peak and Tani Jubbar lake.

Hatu Peak

Hatu peak is basically a temple situated near Narkanda. This temple belongs to goddess Hatu. This place is situated at very high altitude.

Tani Jubbar

Tani Jubbar Lake is situated at a distance of about 12 kms from Narkanda. It is a small artificially water fed oval-shaped, shallow water that is more of a pond than a lake.

All this information is based on my personal experience. I hope this  will help you to

 Explore more.
