Hatu Peak (Narkanda)

 HATU PEAK

Feelocation: Hatu Peak (Shimla)

First of all I want to give you a small idea about the place. Hatu peak is a place near Narkanda. This place is known for its high altitude mountains and also for the Hatu Mata temple. This place is one of the famous tracking areas. Due to this you can easily find travellers going toward the place.

So I visited this place in the month of November, the wind was about to freeze everything. Temperature was about 1-2 degree celsius when it came to night. Me and boyfriend both were fools without any doubt because we went by a bike( that was my idea). We went from Shimla in the evening and we reached Narkanda at night. It was about 8-9pm. Our whole body was freezed totally, we were losing balance on the bike. Then we finally got down to brass track and we reached Narkanda and took a breath of ease. But beauty was the only factor that motivated us to ride the bike till we reached Narkanda.

We had planned to move to Hatu peak in the morning. We were thinking of moving from the hotel early in the morning but it was too hard for us, because it was so cold outside. We moved from Narkanda at about 8am. Hatu peak is 8km from Narkanda. On the way to the peak the scenery was so beautiful that we forgot all about the cold we were feeling . We were lost in the landscape of nature. We reached the place in one and a half hours because it was so hard to ride that high altitude peak. The view from the top was giving us the feeling of victory, clouds were in front of us, mountains covered with snow were looking a bit away from us, the sun was slowly getting hot and giving us warmth. We went to the Hatu Mata temple and spent some time in the peaceful and the blessed environment of the temple.

I want to tell my readers to go to this place in the month of November or December if you like the cold weather otherwise go for the summer season it will be more suitable for bike riding. But if you want some more adventure go for the bike in the month of November that is what we did. I also want to suggest a Pahari dish named 'Seedu'. We ate this on the way to Shimla from Narkanda when we were coming back. There was a shop on the side of the NH named Pahadi, Seedu  the shop was very clean and the staff was very friendly. This shop gave us Seedu of two types One was with the sweet stuffing and other one was the normal spicy stuffing, they served these with a bowl full of Ghee and some types of Chutney. This shop was a Seedu shop basically. I personally loved that taste, both were like mouth watering. I suggest you try this unique and tasty dish of Pahad.

Brief History

The place Hatu belongs to Hatu mata. Who was the goddess of Ravan. People believe that Ravan's wife used to come here for worship. Due to this temple the peak is named as Hatu peak.

The height of the peak is 3400mtrs (11152feet) according to the HPPWD.

So you can imagine the view from this much high altitude.

How to reach

The place is about 8km from the main market of Narkanda. First you have to go about 500mtrs strate on the main road then you can see the sign board of Hatu peak. By these boards you can easily find the road. As I said that the place is very popular, so you will get the people going there or trekking towards the peak. It will take about 2 hours to reach the top because of the high altitude and tough road for driving. But when you reach the place you are worth your time.
