Bon Monastery, Solan


                       Bon Monastery is situated at Dolanji, which is 16 km from Solan city. It is the offshoot of Menri monastery, China. Menri is the 2nd oldest monastery in the world.

  The entry gate of the Bon monastery campus is the first thing which you see at your entry time. 


Monastery

 There is a large sized monastery on the campus.

All students are seated  in the monastery for praying.  Small benches have been installed into the monastery temple to read books.


Library and Playground

Library and playground facilities for monk students have been provided.


Buildings

Bon monastery campus is full of decent buildings, every building has a touch of Tibetan art. 


Families

 In the Bon Monastery campus there are about 200 monk families living. Bon Monastery campus is known in local people as 'Tibet Colony'.

About Bon monastery, Solan


The Bon community is older than the Bodh, but there are  much similarities in both communities. Monastery was established in 1969 by the  Abbot Lungtok Tenpai Nyima. The chief of the Monastery is called Menri Trizin.




How to Reach

 (Following i route is started from Kalka-Shimla National Highway)


Step-1 

Proceed to the Mall road of Solan, from Saproon or Chambaghat bypass.


Step-2

  Then take a turn to Rajgarh road and go straight 9 km.


Step-3 

 After 9 km you will find a station which is known as Oachghat and then take Oachghat - Kalaghat link road and stop at Dolanji station.


Step-4 

Finally you find the way to Bon monastery, go forward and enjoy the Picturesque views. :)
