    Nahan is the headquarters of the district Sirmaur of Himachal Pradesh in India. Nahan is a small town or city in the Shivalik range of the Himalayas. There are some visiting places in the city like, Ranital, Kalishtan Temple, Lytton Memorial, Raja Ranzor Palace, Villa Round and Chogan etc.

Roads

  Nahan-Kumarhatti State Highway and NH 7 are the major roads of the city. Buses ply on these roads daily bases.


Market

  Nahan is a small market and a huge part of the market is located between the Lytton memorial gate and Ghunnu Ghat, in a street. Market has almost 180 to 200 shops and there are enough accommodation  facilities available.

Lytton Memorial

 This memorial was built by Raja Shamsher Prakash in 1877 AD to commemorate Lord Lytton to welcome. 

In 1902 AD the clock tower was built on the top of it by Raja Surendra Vikram Prakash. Tower has 4 clocks. 


Chogan

  This is situated opposite to the Lytton Memorial Gate, Chogan is a large enough ground.


Raja Ranzor Palace

   There is a palace established at Nahan. It is known as Raja Ranzor Mahal and located at Mehlat Ki Ghati. There was also a theater in the campus of the palace.


Villa Round

   The Villa Round is a good destination in Nahan to see the natural beauty of the town. It is good for morning and evening walks. There are also a suicide point and a cemetery located at the area.


Kalishtan Temple

     Maa Kali temple is known as Kalishtan, the famous temple of the town. The temple campus  has many other deities sculptures.


Ranital 

   Ranital is a well known park of the town, It has a Taal (pond) with boating facility, Shiva temple and different types of flora. 



Brief History - Nahan 

     Nahan was founded by Raja Karam Prakash in 1621  AD. In present, it is the headquarters and centre of the district Sirmaur. The district is a part of the state Himachal Pradesh from 1948.

Jatoli Shiv Mandir    The temple is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. Completing the construction work of the temple took 39 years. It is the highest temple of Asia with 111 feet height.
