Shoolini Devi Temple is situated at the Old Market of Solan. Shoolini Maa is the chief goddess of Solan. 

 Solan is named after Maa Shoolini. Temple is well maintained. This shrine is peaceful and accessible.

How to Reach

The temple is situated at the Solan market; so, anyone can easily reach here.


Observe these Following steps:-

(Following Route is started from Kalka-Shimla  National Highway)


 Step-1

Firstly, you need to come Solan town Of Himachal Pradesh (India)


Step 2 

 Then, proceed  to the 'Mall Road' of Solan.


 Step 3 

After that you will find the 'Old Market' , it is situated opposite to the 'Old Bus Stand' of Solan.


Step 4

Enter into the Market. Market is closed for any type of vehicle entry, so you need to walk through the Market.


Step 5

After walking approx 500 metres, you will find the way is divided in two directions, take the way upward and go straight  for 100 metre.


Step  6 

Finally, you can see the entry gate of Shoolini Devi Temple.

There is another way for vehicles that you need to take Rajgarh Road from the Mall Road

Shoolini Festival/ Fair


 In the 3rd week of June, every year; Solan celebrates the Shoolini Festival/Fair. Solan Fair Duration is 3 days. 

First day Mata Shoolini is gone into the palanquin with a great crowd to meet her elder sister Maa Durga, and halt in Durga temple for three days.

 

These three days are  special days for Solan.

Whole Solan is illuminated and converted into the Feast Place. Road and Thodo Ground are filled with a variety of stalls.  

Sports Events & Cultural Nights are organized at Thodo Ground. At the night program many popular artists perform on stage.

3rd and the last day Maa Shoolini has come back to her domicile (Shoolini Temple).


This is a great time to visit Solan.




Know about Maa Shoolini and Her Temple



Shoolini Maa :

  Shoolini Mata is an incarnation of Maa Durga. Her name is Shoolini because she has a Shool (a weapon) in her hand.


 History behind incarnation of Maa Shoolini


 When Lord Vishnu  took the form of Narsimha and killed Hirnyakshyap, after that he was out of control and destroyed everything, to stop Narsimha, Lord Shiva took the form of Sharbha. Sharbha has 8 legs and two wings. The right side wing is Powered by Shoolini Maa and the left wing by Durga Maa.

Lord Sharabha  calmed the Narsimha and after that Maa Shoolini  is worshiped by us.

 The place where the temple is built was the domicile  of Maa Shoolini.


History of Temple

Solan was the capital of ancient Baghat Princely State, and their rulers made a Temple to worship  his KulDevi Maa Shoolini.
