Thodo Ground, Solan


This ground is one of the oldest grounds of Himachal Pradesh. Solan's Thodo Ground is closely related to the venerable Thodo Game (an ancient archery game).

      Ground is large enough. It is well connected to the road and the  boundary is covered with a wall and iron net.


Gate

  There is a big gate established at the entry of the ground.

Multi Gaming Ground

          Ground is equipped with many field game accessories. There can be played Football, Hockey, local level Cricket, Kabbadi, Volleyball and various athletic games.  By the way ground size allows a single game at a time.

Stage

  There is a stage beside the ground, which is dedicated for cultural as well as professional programs.

 Bleachers

   Cemented bleachers are there, which are connected to the boundary walls. Stadium's  seating capacity is approx. 500.

Speciality

  Thodo ground is known for multi events. It is not only for games but also used to Shoolini Fair, Himachal Utsav and public events etc.

Location 


Ground is situated beside the Rajgarh road and 2 km. away from the ISBT Solan. Mall road is 400 metres to the Ground.

 How to Reach :

Following steps are started from Kalka-Shimla National Highway-


Step -1 

 Take the Mall Road to reach Thodo ground easily.


Step -2

  Then turn to the Rajgarh Road and go forward.


Step -3 

  After 300 hundred metres, you will find a right handed  path leading to the Thodo Ground.


Step-4


Finally take it and you will be at the front of the Thodo Ground's Gate :)

History of the Ground


Ground was formally made for the Thodo game(an archery game) by the ruler of Baghat Princely State. Ground is named after the Thodo game. In this game, participants wear wooden safety gears in their legs and hit the arrows to the legs of one another. At present time, this game is shown on stage during the Shoolini fair.

Jatoli Shiv Mandir    The temple is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. Completing the construction work of the temple took 39 years. It is the highest temple of Asia with 111 feet height.
